Walk Away

ree

by Andrea Lynn Cianflone

You want peace?

I’ll give you a piece:

How about a slice of advice.

The face of love may not always appear nice.

Disregard a person’s voice, the table will surely turn.

It’s almost flipped over, are you ever going to learn?

Do you really expect a smile from years of picking up your slack?

How lucky for you to take someone’s love and minimally reciprocate back.

Now your tears are falling, as if you do not know.

Ever heard the line: you reap what you sow?

You want peace? Ah, I hear the silence alright!

It’s the fading sound of shoes walking out of your sight.
